Effective July 1, 2025, Motor Vehicle Administration implemented Rate and Policy changes.
Historic vehicles must now be 25 years old instead of 20 years. If your vehicle is 2000-2005, you will need to turn your Historic Tags in and get standard plates. There is a fee for this process.

The tax rate for purchasing a vehicle has changed from 6% to 6.5% and the title fee has also increased.
The Registration Fees for certain vehicles in Classes A and M weighing more than 3700lbs, Class E vehicles weighing more than 5000lbs and rental vehicles have increased.
The increased fees are due to the underfunded and increasing costs to the Transportation Trust Fund. This includes Roads and Bridges, Public Transit, and Ports and Airports.
